1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the locksmith services provided by Winckley Locksmiths ("we", "us", or "our"). By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before requesting any services.
Winckley Locksmiths operates from 33-34 Winckley Square, Preston PR1 3JJ.
2. Services
We provide professional locksmith services including, but not limited to: emergency lockout assistance, lock repairs and replacements, key cutting and duplication, security assessments, lock upgrades, and safe services. The specific services to be provided will be agreed upon before work commences.
3. Bookings and Appointments
Appointments can be made by telephone, email, or through our website. We will endeavour to attend at the agreed time, but appointment times are estimates and may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic, previous jobs overrunning, or emergencies. We will notify you as soon as possible of any significant delays.
4. Proof of Ownership or Residency
For security purposes, we may require proof of ownership or residency before providing certain services, particularly for lockout situations. Acceptable forms of identification include a driving licence, utility bill, tenancy agreement, or other official documentation showing your name and the property address. We reserve the right to refuse service if satisfactory proof cannot be provided.
5. Quotations and Pricing
We will provide a quotation before commencing work wherever possible. Quotations are based on the information available at the time and may be subject to change if the scope of work differs from what was initially described. Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed with you before proceeding.
6. Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and bank transfers. For larger projects, we may require a deposit before work commences.
7. Cancellations
If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. If you have requested a locksmith and gain access to your property before cancelling, you will be charged an Attendance Fee. This fee covers time, travel, and availability reserved for the appointment.
8. Warranties and Guarantees
We guarantee our workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of service. This covers defects in the installation or repair work carried out by us. Products and parts supplied are covered by the manufacturer's warranty where applicable. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, attempted break-ins, or normal wear and tear.
9. Limitation of Liability
We carry public liability insurance for your protection. However, our liability is limited to the cost of the services provided. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from our services. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage to locks, doors, or frames, or for damage that occurs as a necessary part of gaining entry in emergency situations, which will be discussed with you beforehand.
10. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate information about the services required and ensuring safe access to the work area. You must inform us of any relevant security systems, alarms, or special requirements. You confirm that you have the authority to request locksmith services for the property in question.
